Produktionsstart von BMW Elektrofahrzeugen in Leipzig

Die BMW Group  hat den Startschuss für die Produktion von Elektroautos gesetzt. Im BMW-Werk in Leipzig wurde am Freitag, den 5. November 2010 der Bau einer neuen Produktionslinie mit einem Festakt gefeiert. Zugegen waren auch Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel und Sachsens Ministerpräsident Stanislaw Tillich.

Die BMW Group will ein völlig neues Modell entwickeln, ein Elektrofahrzeug, das unter dem Namen Megacity Vehicle firmiert. Rund 400 Millionen Euro sollen in eine Fabrik investiert werden, um die Produktion am Standort Leipzig ab 2013 zu ermöglichen. Baubeginn soll im kommenden Jahr sein. BMW Vorstandsvorsitzender Norbert Reithofer sprach von 800 zusätzlichen Arbeitsplätzen.

Für das Vorhaben wurde mit dem US-amerikanischen Unternehmen SGL Carbon eine Partnerschaft zur Fertigung neuartiger Carbon-Karosserien abgeschlossen. Deren Herstellung ist sehr [mehr...]
